The Chained Wide Vessel is a sculptural ceramic form defined by its generous silhouette and distinctive half-chain detail, where interconnected links emerge organically from the rim before intentionally breaking away rather than forming a complete circle. Crafted by hand, the vessel celebrates both structure and imperfection, transforming a familiar motif into an expressive artistic gesture.
Cour Studio is the ceramic practice of artist Courtney Defeo-Gertler. The name “Cour” playfully references Courtney’s own, reflecting the curiosity and experimentation at the heart of her work. Drawing from a background in soft goods design and a Master’s degree in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, Courtney approaches clay with both technical precision and intuitive freedom. Every piece is handbuilt, preserving the gestures of making and honoring the dialogue between artist, material, and form.
