THE WINE EDIT BY STEPHANIE DEERE

6 WINE ESSENTIALS WRITTEN BY STEPHANIE DEERE

If there's someone that appreciates the full process of wine from harvesting to fermentation to bottling, it's Stephanie Deere, Hospitality Lead at Scribe Winery. We're excited to announce her first of many series of The Wine Edit. Stephanie has always been our go-to wine educator for staples to keep stocked at home. She's the reason why we're always trying something new and finding our favorites. Here's her curated edit and spin on 6 wine essentials under $40 to enjoy with loved ones or gift this holiday season. Let's cheers to that.

2019 Anne-Sophie Dubois Fleurie ‘Les Cocottes’ $31
This floral driven Fleurie is elegant, loaded with flavors of dark fruit and velvet like textures. Anne-Sophie organically farms eight acres of vines in the heart of Fleurie. She refrains from using new oak, and prefers to utilize cement vats and larger neutral oak casks for fermentation and aging. Serve slightly chilled and let the good times roll.
2021 Scribe Winery Nouveau of Pinot Noir $38
Scribe Winery’s Nouveau of Pinot Noir is inspired by the Beaujolais wine that is made using carbonic fermentation (a quick fermentation that results in sweet aromas) and is meant to drink young. Native yeast, unfined, unfiltered. Two weeks of maceration with enough juice to chill and make you go glou glou! A style we absolutely adore.
2019 Arnot-Roberts Trousseau “Lunchsinger” North Coast $32
This winery has gained cult status for good reason. This organic Trousseau from the North Coast was planted in the 1990’s by Chilean immigrants who still manage the vineyard today. Whole cluster fermentation with native yeasts and aged for 11 months in neutral oak. Light, bright, and seriously delicious.
2019 Maitre De Chai X Hammerling Cellars Sparkling Chenin Blanc $38
A super fun sparkling Chenin Blanc by Maitre De Cellars. 50% Chenin Blanc from 40 year-old vines at Massa Estate in Carmel Valley and 50% from 23 year-old vines at the Wilson Vineyard near Clarksburg. Organically farmed. Only 2 barrels produced. The result is a gentle fizz, followed by citrus aromas and a refreshing, dry finish.
2020 Alfaro “A” Gruner Vetliner Santa Cruz Mountains $30
Single vineyard and organically farmed from La Playita Vineyard in Santa Cruz Mountains. This Austrian native varietal is a favorite— very versatile, crisp, with lots of minerality. Zippy acidity and hints of white pepper makes it for a lovely wine to drink on its own as well as with food. Needless to say, this wine does not disappoint.
2020 Azienda Agricola Cirelli Montepulciano d’Abruzzo $25
Agricola Cirelli is a natural red wine from Abruzzo, Central Italy. Light bodied, very dry, with a good bit of funk and tannins. Go on, order some pizza and enjoy this one on a groovy Tuesday night.
