6 THINGS WITH SILVIA DURÁN PLANAS

6 Things with Silvia Durán Planas Founder of Mulier Studio

Silvia Durán Planas is the heart and soul behind mulier studio, in Madrid, Spain. She embarked on her creative journey amidst the 2019 global pandemic, discovering her passion for using wax as an expressive material. A self-taught artist, Silvia prides herself in meticulously crafting each sculptural wax creation as a reflection of her own personal transformation and healing. In collaboration with mulier studio, we're thrilled to announce an exclusive collection on our platform available now.

1. What started it all for you?

In 2019, when the global pandemic started, I felt a strong desire to reconnect with our true nature. That's when mulier studio came into existence, serving as a way for me to express this deep search. Through self-taught techniques, I began using wax as a material of expression, seeking to reflect my own process of transformation.

Every creation serves as a visual representation of diverse stages along this journey, capturing the emotions and wounds that have shaped who I am today. I carefully crafted each piece using artisanal methods, paying close attention to every detail. Ultimately, this journey is an invitation to remember our ability as humans to transform and heal. It's an invitation to embrace our wounds, as they are the gateway through which light enters.

2. What drives your creative spark?

Maintaining a curious attitude is key for me. I try to live without losing the sense of amazement, like a child seeing things for the first time. Sometimes we get so caught up in our thoughts and routines that we forget the magic in everything. It's in those moments of wonder that a creative spark arises. I make an effort to prioritize gratitude and observation above all else.

I feel incredibly fulfilled being able to wake up every day and do something I truly enjoy, something that keeps me focused on the present moment. Working with my hands is a special gift to me.

3. Most treasured home decor item?

It's difficult to choose just one thing, but having plants in my home is incredibly important to me. I can't imagine living in a place without them. Being located in the center of Madrid, surrounding myself with plants is essential. They bring a sense of nature and tranquility into my living space.

4. What’s the best advice you've ever received?

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I've received is to "trust the process." This simple yet profound guidance has had a profound impact on my life, especially as an entrepreneur in an artistic project. It's no secret that the journey of pursuing a creative endeavor can be exhausting at times, filled with ups and downs. However, maintaining trust in oneself is a crucial aspect of navigating through moments of self-doubt and questioning.

5. It's 5 o'clock at home. What would you be pouring?

I love to enjoy a cup of peppermint infusion! Additionally, there are occasions when I find delight in indulging myself with a glass of Spanish red wine.
