6 THINGS WITH JORDAN PERRY

6 Things with Jordan Perry Founder of Guest House

Based in San Francisco, Jordan is the founder of Guest House, a collection of vintage furniture and home goods that you definitely want first dibs on. Guest House was born out of a love for furniture and curating individual spaces. I first met Jordan when I visited the Guest House Studio for an afternoon of vintage shopping in collaboration with Dendwell. Jordan has an incredibly curated eye for the endless amounts of vintage she sources. When I asked her what was next for her business, it turns out she has plenty more up her sleeve. Jordan recently announced a sneak peek into Housette Market, a new market hosting Bay Area small businesses, creatives and vintage curators. This will be an absolute game changer for our Bay Area community and I'm looking forward to seeing it all unravel.

1. What started it all for you?

Like any other 20-something-year-old, my first couple of apartments were furnished with mostly stuff from Ikea and Crate & Barrel. Honestly, I had “champagne taste on a beer budget” so when it came to finding furniture for my apartments I ended up going with what was easiest. When my boyfriend Jaquory and I moved in together before the pandemic, we got into finding pieces on Facebook Marketplace. We really wanted to turn our space into something our families would be impressed with and our friends would always want to come to. After countless hours spent learning about furniture and looking for the best deals on the internet, I grew a passion for sourcing furniture and curating spaces. Naturally, this led us into starting Guest House because I realized many other people wanted amazing pieces for reasonable prices.

2. What drives your creative spark?

I’m inspired by the pieces that I find. Every day is a constant battle of looking for something I didn’t know I wanted to find. Once I’ve found the right piece, the creativity starts to flow. I think about how I want to style the piece, if it would look good in any of my clients homes, or even worth adding to my personal collection.

3. Most treasured home decor item?

Without a doubt I'd have to say the bar in our living room. I find vintage furniture for a living and haven’t seen anything like it before. Its size alone calls for your attention when you're in the room. The layout of our living room is set up for long nights of hosting friends and the bar serves as the centerpiece to conversations and cocktails.

4. What’s the best advice you've ever received?

Have a few dreams because one will come true and then there will come a moment when you need to figure out something else to do.

5. It's 5 o'clock at home. What would you be pouring?

I’m a cocktail girl, so it’s either a lemon drop or espresso martini. If my personal bartner (my boyfriend) isn’t home, then I’m drinking any sauvignon blanc.
