6 THINGS WITH JAIMI BROOKS

6 Things with Jaimi Brooks Founder of The Well Lived Woman

Based in Los Angeles, Jaimi Brooks is the founder of The Well Lived Woman. The Well Lived Woman is a thoughtfully designed space and light-filled community to gather, grow, and connect. Jaimi is a therapist and women's group leader who received her training from Pepperdine and UCLA. Throughout her life, she has worked with women in various capacities. Recognizing the need for women to continue growing and connecting outside of therapy, Jaimi founded WLW to foster meaningful connections and personal growth. She leads women's groups centered around motherhood, identity, and entrepreneurship. Jaimi believes a life well-lived is found through living intentionally and works to make that more beautiful and accessible for us all.

1. What started it all for you?

It's funny how seemingly unrelated work experiences often do shape up purposefully in the big picture. While I always knew I would work in counseling psychology, my entrepreneurial detours have been in work that add beauty to the lives of women.

I started a beauty agency while in graduate school for clinical psychology so my professional life began deeply steeped in women, creativity, and the event and design community.

I eventually craved the depth that the therapy room allows but had developed a need to be in thoughtfully designed, lovely spaces. It all landed me where I am now with The Well Lived Woman. I created a community and event space to support women in living intentionally in all ways. It's a place where the connection point is a desire to live more beautiful lives, inside and out.

2. What drives your creative spark?

I love seeing possibilities for creative solutions - I think creativity in problem solving often get's disregarded but it's useful and brings me a lot of joy! This comes about in different ways, in my work as a women's therapist, the businesses I've built, and the connections I aim to build between others. I'm always looking for the win/win.

3. Most treasured home decor item?

I have a beautiful vintage framed scarf that I love. It is mostly ivory but has rusty orange, a tiny bit of green, and very subtle sequined beading on it which, because it's imperfect and old, feels like the most beautiful amount of low-key glamour. My Uncle Jack found it at the Melrose Trading Post in the 80's, framed it, and had it in his Palm Springs home before he passed when I was young. I loved it then and I love it now.

4. What’s the best advice you've ever received?

"Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good." Feels relevant often.

5. It's 5 o'clock at home. What would you be pouring?

It's a cabernet for me these days. My mom picks the best wines so I like to drink whatever she brings over.
