Erica Choi is the founder of Superegg and a NY-licensed esthetician. As the leading lifestyle influencer behind Egg Canvas and the former VP of Digital Design of Barneys New York, she has worked over a decade partnering with renowned brands in the luxury fashion, beauty, and the hospitality industry. Her skincare line was found based on meaningful, honest values, weaving in three important themes in her life – eggs, beauty, and balance. Since an early age, Erica has been known for her smooth egg-like skin, which propelled the launching of her lifestyle platform based on self-care rituals to achieve a healthy luminous Egg Canvas. The core mission of Superegg is to create sophisticated formulations that are powerfully balancing for the skin and planet.

1. What started it all for you?

Beauty has always been a source of comfort for me, and I have pursued my passion for it through positions at Aveda, Teen Vogue, Razorfish, Huge, Createthe Group, and most recently, as the VP of Digital Design at Barneys New York. Despite being able to take good care of my own skin, I wanted to deepen my knowledge of skincare and skin health, and became a licensed esthetician through 600 hours of training at Aveda Institute New York.

While my corporate career was an important stepping stone, my entrepreneurial spirit led me to create Superegg, a brand that reflects my passion for beauty and empowerment. I have collaborated with top brands in the fashion, lifestyle, and beauty industries as a design director and content creator, which has inspired me to create a brand that offers high-performance and sensorial formulations to promote skin health and radiance.

With Superegg, we aim to promote self-care and nourish the inner self through sophisticated and thoughtful products. Each use of our products is intended to feel like a ritual of self-love and care. Pursuing my passion and taking risks has been the key to my success, and through Superegg, I hope to inspire others to prioritize their own self-care and well-being, follow their dreams, and feel beautiful both inside and out.

2. What drives your creative spark?

I am driven by a strong desire for personal growth and improvement, and I rarely find myself bored because I thrive on constant movement. However, this can sometimes become a crutch, and I have to remind myself to take breaks to rest my body, mind, and spirit. I feel deeply discouraged when I encounter creative blocks, but I try to overcome them by exploring my city, visiting museums, attending new openings, and reading up on new things. If possible, I also travel, both near and far, to gain fresh inspiration.

3. Most treasured home decor item?

My living space is my sacred space so I fill it with only things that bring me joy. My favorite home item is my Camaleonda sofa – it’s a simple but classic piece. I so appreciate its innovative modular design that is changeable based on my mood. It’s comfortable but so chic! I have an update from the 1970’s Mario Bellini version that’s made with sustainability in mind. I was mulling over buying it for some time because it’s an investment, but I’m so glad I did. It truly is a dream piece for me.

4. What’s the best advice you've ever received?

To maintain a spirit of kindness and curiosity, as we are always in the process of learning.

5. It's 5 o'clock at home. What would you be pouring?

I love a crisp glass of chilled Sancerre to unwind after a long but fulfilling day. It serves as an end cap to my day even though I’m still working on Superegg and/or other projects in the evening. Hopefully our schedules align so my spouse and I can enjoy a glass together.

Later in the evening, I like to wind down with a cup of herbal tea. My go-to choices are Kettl Soba Cha, Ippodo Mugicha Barley, and Rishi Chamomile Medley.
