The Lamellae Sculptural Vessel is a testament to the art of hand-building. Crafted using a meticulous coiling technique, the unglazed exterior reveals the raw beauty of the clay, and allows the natural texture and subtle marks left by the maker's hands to become an integral part of the piece.

The undulating form invites both visual and tactile exploration, whilst balancing delicate precision and organic imperfection. A harmonious blend of functionality and artistry, this sculptural work fosters a sense of connection to its earthen origins.

Laura Ramirez is a ceramic artist based in Madrid, Spain, whose fascination with handmade crafts began at an early age. Throughout her life, she explored various art forms, but clay soon became her primary medium of expression. After living in Australia for eleven years, she graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in Ceramics, from the National Art School in Sydney.

Her ceramics-based practice navigates the tension between material irregularities and sculptural refinement, exploring themes of displacement and belonging through her hand-built forms. Employing coiling and sculpting techniques, she embraces the natural beauty of clay, leaving her pieces unglazed to highlight the material's intrinsic texture, organic imperfections, and the marks of the maker. Each piece is a celebration of craftsmanship, balancing control with the freedom to let the material guide the process.
